Job Description:
Position Summary:This position is responsible for the
supervision of all Early Head Start Home Based staff. Provide
direction, support and reinforcement to the Home Visitors. Ensure
the Home Base Program exemplifies the Early Head Start Standards by
supporting and encouraging family goals and objectives, involving
parents in the development and education of their children, and
strengthening the capacity of parents and families to become
self-sufficient. Serve as a resource person to Home Visitors.Duties
& Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits to young children and
their families.
- Carry out curriculum for child development in the context of
the home and during group socialization experiences.
- Facilitate group socialization experiences and other family
group activities.
- Provide education and support services to families, including
conducting screening and ongoing assessment of young children's
development.
- Collaborate with families to establish family development goals
and document this collaborative process in family partnership
agreements.
- Promote parental involvement in curriculum planning, program
governance, and the overall Early Head Start program.
- Monitor and educate parents with respect to children's health
status, including medical follow-up, physical health, dental
health, mental health, and nutritional intake.
- Monitor staff to ensure compliance of Home Base Program.
- Provide management, crisis intervention, and resource referral
services.
- Act as liaison and advocate between community resources and
Early Head Start families.
- Provide transportation resources to family when appropriate to
and from community resources or other activities. Complete
documentation of home visits, socialization experiences, and other
relevant activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and
information.
- Participate fully in supervision and training experiences.
- Recruit and enroll families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.Staff Supervision and
Communication:
- Conduct regular home visitor team meetings, family review, and
ongoing individual supervisor meetings to address issues and
concerns, and to share ideas.
- Assist in recruiting and supervising volunteers, field
experience students, professionals, parents, and family
members.
- Ensure visits and socializations, curriculum education folders,
screenings, and other paperwork generated by staff are in
compliance with program contracts and agency expectations.
- Manage and conduct annual staff performance evaluations and
ongoing professional development.
- Review timesheets and submit for processing.
- Track and manage vacation requests.
- Oversee the growth of the home base enrollment and program
options, consistently meeting target enrollment numbers and
maintaining full enrollment.
- Assist with hiring new qualified staff.Job Requirements:
- Master's or bachelor's degree in child development, education,
social sciences, or related field.
- At least 2 years' experience working with children and families
in a human service setting.
- Capacities to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with
families and children of various cultures from low-income
backgrounds.
- Approach to working with families/staff that is empathic,
nonjudgmental, respectful, and professional.
- Willingness to work primarily in the homes of families residing
in high-risk communities.
- Flexibility with respect to time and days able to work as well
as to work tasks.
- Active driver's license and Car Insurance.Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentational
skills.
- Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective
relationships with administration, staff, consultants, regulators,
and founders in a team-oriented environment.
- Capacity to assume responsibility for own professional
development.
- Detail-oriented, logical, and methodological approach to
problem solving.
- Ability to plan and schedule the work of others.
- Flexible, with the ability to work in a highly demanding,
stressful environment.
- Proficiency using word-processing systems.
- Ability to cooperate successfully as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, including
giving and receiving feedback on the quality of services.
- Meet any specific content area requirements.Language Skills:
- Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
- Bilingual-Spanish preferred.Covid-19 Note: In the spirit of
